God Made A Soldier

God looked down on the beautiful land with the farmers and said I need a protector.
So God made a soldier.

God said I need somebody willing to be up for days on end, work all day to keep the people safe, and keep a family together from thousands of miles away. So God made a soldier.

God said I need somebody willing to sit in the mud, the snow, and the blood to keep his loved ones safe. Someone to never show an ounce of fear in the face of tyranny and oppression, but to deliver his people from it. So God made a soldier.

God said I need somebody strong enough to lift his wounded friend off the battle field under fire, but gentle enough to hold his newborn baby and cry. So God made a soldier.

It had to be somebody that would work hard and follow orders and get the job done right no matter how long it took. And then would laugh and smile when the people he protects ask "how he could put himself through that?" So God made a soldier...
