Drew Brees wants to start a new tradition before Saints games. Check it out...

I had a blast at the "Celebrity Waiters" event for the American Cancer Society! It was such an honor to serve several members of the US 96.3 Country family who purchased tickets to sit at my table. I sang some Jimmy Buffet, danced, and buttered rolls for tips. Also, Lin Bobbitt purchased my "centerpiece" which included a guided dove/deer hunt to benefit ACS! Thanks y'all. You're a major blessing to me.

Dancing for tips! Hey...talk about customer service. Whatever it takes to help the American Cancer Society!

Talk about the opportunity of a lifetime! I got a chance to interview Drew Brees, Superbowl MVP Quarterback of the New Orleans Saints! The interview came as a result of my friend CJ Stewart who met Drew at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. recently.

Drew is incredibly nice! I can see why CJ left such an impression on Drew during their visit. See pics and read the story about Drew's visit with CJ below.

Congratulations to my new friend Landon Cochran! He has been selected from a field of 4,000 kids to the 24-person Team USA! He will represent Mississippi and the USA in an international tournament in Puerto Rico next June. Landon and his family are trying to raise money to be able to go on the trip. If you'd like to help, or sponsor Landon, visit any Bank Plus location and donate to the Landon Cochran fund. If you'd like to reach Landon's mom Misti, you can email her at landonusa@ymail.com.

God is good! Check out the amazing email I just got from Chuck Stewart about his son CJ who was wounded in Afghanistan a couple of months ago. Amazing...

Attached are a few pictures from yesterday.  New Orleans Saints came to Walter Reed after their visit to the White House.  Notice a couple of things:

1.       CJ is standing in each picture.  Since Saturday he has worn his shoes all day, walked everywhere (Saturday was 1st time he has worn shoes and walked more than 5 steps in 53 days), and refuses to get in his bed during the day.  He is getting stronger physically which is going along with his mental and spiritual strength which has been there all along.

2.       Color in his face is back and he has gained back about 15 of the 28 lbs he lost.

1.       1838 – CJ and Drew Brees

2.
8580 – CJ and Coach Payton

3.
7550 – CH and defensive line

4.
6113 – CJ and Robin

The Saints were very gracious.  If you are a fan, you can be very proud of the class they showed.  Hospital staff said they spent more time there than anyone ever has.  They told Robin CJ was special to them because he is from Louisiana.  They really went out of their way.  They all signed his flag and one of them gave him a Saints hat and the rest signed when they came to see him.  Coach Payton gave us his cell number and invited us to spend a weekend in New Orleans as their guests when CJ gets back to Mississippi.

Drew Brees must have signed 20 things and gave them to him.  The highlight for us was when CJ gave Drew Brees his Wounded Warrior hat and Drew promised to wear it on the sidelines.  He said he would get fined by the NFL for wearing it and he would make sure the fine was donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.  THEN he asked for CJ’s autograph.

Not a bad day!  I guess I am going to have to become a Saints fan!

Chuck Stewart

Here's a picture of CJ's buddies in front of the wall where the RPG hit CJ on the other side.

There's a TV show in Montgomery, Alabama similar to COPS -- only it all happens in Montgomery. It's called "County Law." What you're about to see is not made up...it's real. This woman is so excited that she's going to be on the show. Watch for yourself...

Got Hay?? Here's a message I received on Facebook this week from my friend Stephanie. She just started a non-profit organization to work with special needs kids through equine therapy. Stephanie needs hay for the horses. Can you help? If so, please contact me asap. scott@us963.com.

I need your help.  I am doing equine therapy full time and I have started my own non profit.  It is going great!  The Clarion Ledger did a story on my this past Sunday and I got a huge response from it.  I love spending time with these special people and riding horses too!  I am in desperate need of hay.   The person that was going to bale hay for me has backed out and now I am back at square one.  Can you push Bit by Bit on the morning show?  If I don't buy hay now and store it for winter, I am in trouble.  There was a hay shortage last year and prices were through the roof.  I am taking in rescue horses and using them as therapy horses.  Thank you so much!

This is a little melodramatic -- but not far from the truth. (Thanks Tara!)

Let me see if I got this right.....

  • If you cross the Saudi Arabian border illegally, you go to jail.
  • If you cross the Cuban border, you go to prison.
  • If you cross the U.S. border illegally, you get…
    • A job
    • An ID card
    • Welfare
    • Food stamps
    • Credit Cards
    • Subsidized rent or a loan to buy a house.
    • Free education.
    • Free healthcare
    • A lobbyist in Washington
    • Billions of dollars worth of public documents printed in your language
    • The right to carry your country’s flag while you protest that you don’t get enough respect.

Just wanted to make sure I had a handle on the situation.

Please join me in sending a get well card to American Hero and Madison, MS native CJ Stewart who is alive by God's amazing grace after a bomb blast in Afghanistan. CJ serves our country in the US Army as a medic in Afghanistan. While on a rescue mission, a bomb exploded within a few feet of CJ. His right arm is severely injured requiring several surgeries over the coming month. You can send mail to CJ at the following address:

PFC CJ Stewart
c/o Ward 57
Walter Reed Army Medical Center
6900 Georgia Ave. NW
Washington, D.C. 20307

Here is a picture of CJ after 9 and 1/2 hour surgery to repair bones in his right arm. He will undergo another surgery today (approx 10 hours) to repair muscles and tissue destroyed by the bomb blast. Keep those cards and prayers coming! (Notice CJ's smile? Amazing.)

If you haven't seen this on TV, I taught this kid everything he knows. (Yeah Right!!)

Thanks to my friend Harvey for sharing the link to this video with me. It's a video from the "Run For The Wall" motorcycle event that is the culmination of thousands of bikes rolling into Washington D.C. as a lone Marine stands and salutes the fallen as the bikes pass by. Very moving.

In case you're not a frequent visitor to my page, you should know that I'm extremely patriotic and I believe that we live in the greatest country in the world. Special thanks to my friend Dan Robinson for sharing this video with me. I liked it so much that I posted it to You Tube. Hope you enjoy this as much as I do.

This is awesome! Take some time and research our national anthem and you'll find exactly what this gentlemen sang at a Tea Party event on June 5th. Incredible!

This drummer is definitely at the wrong gig...

A major league pitcher gets ROBBED of a perfect game because of a bad call by the umpire. The ump later admitted that he blew the call after seeing the replay. Here is the play that cost Armando Gallaraga what would've been 3 perfect games in major league baseball in the same 3 week period.

Oh Yeah!! Sweet nectar of the Gods!! Check out this cool new line of energy drinks from Realtree. Yes, the same people that make camo clothes and stuff...

Check out the students from Madison Avenue Upper Elementary School dancing to Keith Urban's song "Somebody Like You." I got to see the 5th graders do this in person during their end of the year party. Amazing!!

Check out this kid's reaction to hearing that Social Security would actually be around when he gets older.

Thanks to a US 96.3 Country listener for sending this to me -- it's the letter sent to a Franklin County teacher who will no longer be teaching for the Franklin County school district. Read the reason why. By the way, this teacher WAS re-hired (5/26) and her contract was renewed thanks to your overwhelming response to the school district!

In every joke there's an element of truth. Ray Stevens nails it with this video.

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Susan G. Komen Race For The Cure. I'm thinking there were more than 3,000 people there. Amazing turnout. Dr. Phillip Ley had his head shaved after losing a bet. He said there was no way that any team would raise $10,000 for the Race. Boy was he wrong! Here's the before and after...

Dustin Evans "If I Die Before You Wake" -- KLEENEX ALERT!

Thanks to Dan Robinson for sending this photo to me. After I stopped laughing, I started thinking about the "Let's Go Walking" TV campaign that's out right now -- how about "Let's Go Fishing" Mississippi for this one! Notice the Mississippi tag on the car...too funny!!

I wish I could rewind this weekend and do it again. Here's a memory made -- my 4 year old caught this bass but big brother had to hold it 'cause it was too heavy for little man. What memory will you make today?

Larry Crimm of the Ringgold Community in Scott County, on Saturday finished a unique project as he built a grill of a different type. Crimm said he saw a photo of a similar grill and decided to build one for himself after hunting season ended, adding his own adjustments along the way in the design. He noted that it took approximately 400 hours to complete the project, adding that he drew on 30 years of experience performing similar work.

It's a heart doctor's new friend! The KFC Double Down sandwich rolling out nationwide on April 12th. Twice the meat and no bun. Evidently no vegetables were harmed in the making of this sammich! I wonder if it comes with a side of Plavix??

Funny! A Houston news anchor tries to reach across the news desk to pinch a co-anchor for not wearing green on St. Patricks day. It didn't quite work out the way she hoped. Ooops! Watch this...

5 Year Old Calls 911 For Dad
Thank GOODNESS everything was ok with this situation. This has to be the most adorable 911 call I've ever heard.

I can't wait for America to see this movie!

Everyday I think I've seen it all -- then I saw this. Thanks to Mike Macko from A HUNT ABOVE for sharing this powerful video. This will make you exceedingly grateful for the life and blessings you've been given today.

Next time I go to Kroger I'm gonna do this...

Thanks to US 96.3 Engineer Joel Robertson for reminding me that while most of Washington, D.C. was shut down recently due to blizzard conditions, not ALL of Washington was shut down. See these photos and remember to thank a soldier for their service today.

How is this for a duck blind! Three stories. 1st level hides 4 boats underneath and had room for 2 hunters and 2 dog doors. 2nd level has a full kitchen w/ fridge, 2 stoves, electricity, living room with 2 couches and satellite TV, theatre seats around the "porch of the blind" to shoot 14 guys comfortably. Side porch has a running toilet and a stainless steel grill. They had all the mojos and mallard machines hard wired to car batteries. 3rd level was the "crows nest" with room for 3. It was about 25 ft up in the trees and most of the time you were cutting down on the ducks.

What a nice interruption! I had the pleasure of meeting Anita Cronley from Armstrong Relocation in Madison. She won our Donut Break courtesy of the Donut Barn on Highway 51 in Madison. Anita was nice enough to cheese for the camera. If you'd like to be the next recipient of donuts at your office, sign up here.

Party In The MIA (Saints Style)

Check out Drew Brees' testimony. No wonder I like Drew so much!

Thanks to my friend Paula for sending this picture to me. I thought it was an incredible statement about feelings between the generations of military brothers and sisters. This picture reminded me that there really are only two defining forces that have offered to die for you. Jesus Christ and a soldier. One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Crazy basketball shot!

Drunken Pilot Video
Have a look at this video of a performance by a stunt pilot who is, in real life a Delta Airlines pilot. His act at Air Shows is to pretend that he is a drunken spectator who rushes from the stands and jumps in a Piper Cub and takes off without any understanding of how to fly a plane. The Piper Cub is actually specifically built to withstand enormous stress and has a very powerful engine. This apparently is the most dangerous of Air Show acts because of the low altitude at which the pilot performs. This pilot possesses unbelievable skill, which becomes obvious in the attached video.

Thanks to Janet for sending this to me --
Our 14 year old dog, Abbey, died last month. The day after she died, my 4 year old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey.. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her.

I told her that I thought we could so she dictated these words:

Dear God,
Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick. I hope you will play with her.. She likes to play with balls and to swim. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her You will know that she is my dog. I really miss her.
Love, Meredith

We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it.. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelop
e because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letter box at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.

Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, 'To Meredith' in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, 'When a Pet Dies..' Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page was the picture of Abbey &Meredith and this note:

Dear Meredith,
Abbey arrived safely in heaven. Having the picture was a big help. I recognized Abbey right away. Abbey isn't sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets to keep your picture in, so I am sending it back to you in this littl
e book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by. Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you. I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much.
By the way, I'm easy to find, I am wherever there is love.
Love,
God

Biden Criticized For Appearing In Hennessy Ads

Man's Best Friend Joke

An older, tired-looking dog wandered into my yard. I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home and was well taken care of. He calmly came over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head. He then followed me into my house, slowly walked down the hall, curled up in the corner and fell asleep. An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out.

The next day he was back, greeted me in my yard, walked inside and resumed his spot in the hall and again slept for about an hour. This continued off and on for several weeks. Curious, I pinned a note to his collar: 'I would like to find out who the owner of this wonderful sweet dog is and ask if you are aware that almost every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap.'

The next day he arrived for his nap, with a different note pinned to his collar: 'He lives in a home with 6 children, 2 under the age of 3 - he's trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?'
